Chess lessons are delivered by a specialised tutor who is an experienced chess player. Children at Silverton Primary School are given the opportunity to learn how to play chess during lunchtimes where they can be invited to become a member of our School's Chess Team which competes at regular events across the State.

In 2024 our Chess team became the Northern Star Chess Zonal School Champions!  Congratulation to James for being the highest ranked player at this tournament.
