Literacy

At Silverton Primary School we acknowledge that Literacy is covered in all aspects of schooling. Our aim is to develop confidence for each individual student to read, write and speak in all areas of the Curriculum. All areas of the Victorian Curriculum are explored such as Reading and Viewing, Writing, and Speaking and Listening.

Literacy Groups
During Literacy Groups, students are introduced and taught skills to assist in their development of reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Workshops
During Workshops, students are exposed to different elements of the Victorian Curriculum, where teaching is differentiated and targeted to student’s individual needs.

Extension and Intervention
The varying needs of all students are met through the use of extension and intervention programs. These various programs are delivered by specialist teachers who aim to address the specific needs of all children. (For example, BRIDGES, English as Additional Language (EAL) classes.)
