ADJUSTING BACK TO THE SCHOOL ROUTINE FOR OUR FAMILIES

Families are adapting to the evolving changes in daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  We understand the transition to and from home schooling back to on site learning is challenging.  We also understand the worrying feelings our students might be feeling both at home and at school.  Silverton is focusing on encouraging a healthy and happy school environment whilst really looking after the wellbeing of our students.  Some tips you can do at home to make the transition back to school a success.

  • Keeping a morning routine as similar as possible each day will help with a smooth transition in the morning.
  • At home it is important to acknowledge our children’s worries and anxieties, but parents should also motivate their children to focus on the things they might be looking forward to at school. Before school starts, you can ask, “what are you looking forward to at school today?” and at the end of the day “what was the best thing that happened today?” Keep the conversations around being at school extremely positive.
  • One of the most helpful things you can do is model calm, confident behaviour, particularly while helping your child get ready for school.

Covid has made everyone feel a little uncertain which is a normal feeling, but if you have any concerns please contact our wellbeing teachers on their emails or by phoning the school office.
