Anxiety around Covid-19
For any children (or parents!) who are feeling anxious in response to the talk and media coverage about Covid-19 (corona virus), Beyond Blue have provided some great advice around maintaining positive mental health at this time. Link included in article.
For any children (or parents!) who are feeling anxious in response to the talk and media coverage about Covid-19 (corona virus), Beyond Blue have provided some great advice around maintaining positive mental health at this time, and the link is attached below.
Research shows that being open and honest with children in situations like this is a really good way to help them cope. This is best done in a way that keeps information factual (avoiding rumour) and age appropriate – which can often be done by giving small amounts of information, and then asking if they have questions.
If your children are particularly anxious at this time, avoiding access to news coverage and gossip about Covid-19 will be helpful, as will be modelling a sense of calm in response to their anxiety.
