Silverton Sharks Basketball Team Make Finals!

This year a group of students and their families chose to participate in the Victorian Primary Schools Basketball League. The Silverton Sharks Basketball team has represented themselves and our school highly in each of their games, developing both teamwork skills and strategies for the game.

On the 29th of November, Gianluca Vescio (G4), Dylan Delahunty (G4), Kye Ferguson (G4), Oscar Flack (G4), Amelie Flack (G2) and Jayden Delahunty (G2) won their semi-final game and will be playing this Friday the 13th of December in the finals.

A huge thank you goes out to Peter Vescio who ran training sessions on Tuesday’s after school and coached the team for most of their games. To Jodie Delahunty for doing the scoring at the games. To all the parents for giving their support. Also a thank you to Damon Parr for helping to train the team during lunchtime!

Some members of the team have shared their thoughts about their upcoming game:

Gianluca Vescio - So far this year we have won 7 games and we have lost 11 games this year. I am hyped for this game because we won against the team we are versing and I think we should win this game.

Dylan Delahunty - Playing for the 3/4 Silverton Sharks this whole year has been a great experience so I’m sure if other kids gave it a try they will love it too.

Kye Ferguson - I am really nervous for the final this Friday but I hope we win. If we win the game I will be really happy!

Oscar Flack – Even though I missed out on around 5-6 games because of a bad injury, I still watched my teammates play and that was fun. I’m really excited for our grand-final. I can’t wait!

Wishing the team the best of luck for their finals game!
