In Term Two Silverton primary school’s rubbish pickup people did a rubbish bin audit with a staff member from Greater Dandenong council.
We recently received the results.
The results were that 50% of our bins are being filled with the leftovers of kid’s lunches, this means that kids are getting too much food in their lunchbox’s and can’t eat it all or they just don’t like the food that is being packed for them. Another thing we found was that by volume soft plastics took up the most space in our bins, this means that kids are still not bringing rubbish free lunches this is causing a big issue because if we all ate all our food and brought rubbish free lunches then our bins will be almost empty because all the food and soft plastics take up 75% of our bins and did you know that every month the school spends on average $800- on getting rid of rubbish per month. Another thing we found out was that 25% of our bins have recyclable items and 7% of that was 10 cent refund containers. This is the diagram proving that what your reading is true.
