2025 Newsletter #5

Dear Silverton families,

Hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through the 2025 school year! Thank you to all staff, students and families for making it such a great year so far.

Congratulations to all the students who competed at Division Cross Country on 30th May. Harley, David and Levi progressed through to regional level held on 18th June and all three competed extremely well, congratulations! Thank you to Mrs Kittle and Mr Peterson.

LC4 went to Nazareth College on 4th June to watch their school production, which they really enjoyed. Thank you to LC4 staff for taking them along.

Our Fuse Cup – Just Dance team competed at the tournament at Haileybury College on 5th June and were the overall winners of the tournament! The team has now progressed to the State and possibly National championships to be held on the Gold Coast in Term Four. An amazing effort! Thank you to Mr Tang for his support of the Esports program.

During Week 8 we had the Glasses for Kids program running for students in Foundation to Year 3. We had over 100 students have their vision checked, which was fantastic!

Last week we had the children from Heritage Pre School come to Silverton to enjoy a taste of primary school life. Our staff and students loved having them visit and we thank the staff at Heritage for their help in bringing the children along.

Silverton’s Performing Arts Showcase was held yesterday in Prosser Hall. Congratulations to all of the students in the Instrumental Program on their performances. A big thank you to Miss Penelope, Alex and Mr Palamara for their work. Thank you also to all of our family members who came along to watch the showcase.

We will be holding our next 2026 Foundation Transition session on Wednesday 30th July from 4:00pm – 5:30pm which will include a BBQ for students and parents. If you know anyone who is looking for a school in 2026, please encourage them to contact the school office to book a school tour and to register for the Transition session.

Very exciting to see that the landscaping project near the oval gate has commenced. We are looking forward to seeing this completed before the end of the Term.

A big thank you to all families who have made payment of their parent contributions and laptops via compass. If you need any help using compass or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak with the admin team.

A reminder that Thursday 3rd July is a Curriculum Day and that on Friday 4th July, school finishes at 2:30pm.

Once again, I would just like to thank you all for your ongoing support.

Thank you,

Mark Pollard – Principal

Foundation News

Halfway Already! A Wonderful Term of Growth in Foundation

We can’t believe we’re already almost halfway through the year! It’s been an incredible journey watching our Foundation students grow in confidence, creativity, and independence.

This term, students have begun planning and engaging in more detailed Discovery Time projects. These have included exciting activities such as cooking, exploring basic technology, expressing themselves through art and craft, and enjoying meaningful outdoor learning experiences. Their enthusiasm and curiosity continue to shine through in every learning space.

We’ve also seen fantastic progress in their writing. The children are now confidently planning and reflecting on their projects in more detail, showing great pride in their work and development.

We’re so proud of how far they’ve come, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve in Semester Two!
