2024 Newsletter #11

Dear Silverton families,

It’s been a very busy start to Term Four! Thank you to everyone for their flexibility as we manage to facilitate so many different learning opportunities for our students.

Thank you to Miron for organizing our Chess Gala day at Silverton earlier this Term and congratulations to all students who participated. Our Chess team has also gone on to represent Silverton at the State Finals. An amazing effort! Full details below.

Our Year Four students have been to camp and had a great time. Thank you to all staff who went along and to the staff back at school for your flexibility.

Year Two Sleepover was also held in the same week and again, a big thank you to all staff involved. A special shout out to Mr Ong who attended both!!

We have had a number of students progress through to division and regional level sports this Term in Tennis, Softball, Cricket, Lawn Bowls and Athletics. Congratulations to all students and thank you to staff for their efforts in supporting our students.

A special congratulations to Lucy Thwaites who made it through to State level High Jump!

Our students have had a number of opportunities to represent Silverton in a number of extra-curricular activities this Term including the Dandenong Children’s Forum, Dandenong Maths Games and Coding Challenges just to name a few. Thank you to all staff and students involved in these activities.

Today we held our first 2025 Foundation Transition session. It’s always exciting to welcome a new cohort of students to our school. Thank you to the staff who helped with the session. We hope that all of our 2025 Foundation students can attend the remaining three sessions.

I want to wish our ESports team all the very best as they jet off to the Gold Coast this weekend for the Fuse ESports Competition!

Thank you to all family members and extra parent helpers who helped with the Bunnings BBQ to raise funds for our Esports team. A special thank you to Patricia Xiong who helped run the day as well as transport everything there!

Please remember that now we are in Term Four, all students must have a school hat on whenever they are outside. Please ensure your child(ren) have a school hat. School hats can be purchased at the school office.

A reminder that we are still taking enrolments for 2025 Foundations. If you know someone who will be starting school in 2025, please encourage them to contact the school for a tour.

So far in 2024 our Parents Association have raised $12,527.80. Amazing! Thank you so much to all who have helped us so far this year!

Once again, thank you to all members of our community for your ongoing support.

Thank you,

Mark Pollard – Principal

  • Please obey all street parking signs in neighboring streets to avoid being fined and do not perform UTurns outside the school gates.
