2025 Newsletter #10

Dear Silverton families,

I just wanted to remind everyone about our process when leaving the school grounds. We would prefer that students do not play on the basketball courts or the playground next to the basketball courts after school as Team Kids require this space for the students who are in after-school care. If parents/carers are running late, students should wait at the gate with the yard duty teacher.

Division basketball was held on 23rd Oct at Rosewood Downs PS, our boys won and progressed through to Regionals which is a huge achievement! Congratulations! Thank you to Mrs Kittle for her coaching!

Congratulations to the students who competed at Regional Athletics on 24th Oct. Again, a fantastic achievement! Thank you again to Mrs Kittle for support of our athletes!

Congratulations to all of our year 5/6 students on their amazing passion projects that were on show at the passion project showcase. Thank you to the LC4 staff for organising such an amazing event and to all of the family members that came along to make it a special day.

Division softball and cricket was held at Silverton on 31st Oct. Congratulation to all students who participated.

Our Year 3-6 students recently completed their swimming program at Haileybury College in Keysborough. Congratulations to all students and a big thank you to all staff for their flexibility over the two weeks.

Silverton’s 2026 Foundation program commenced last Wednesday. It was lovely to see so many of our 2026 Foundation students here and we look forward to seeing them again over the next three Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 2:30pm. A big thank you to all staff involved in the program!

A big congratulations to our Fuse Cup team who competed in the Gold Coast over the weekend. Varadha, Amelia and Reyansh won the Just Dance national final and Hicham won the Mario Kart national final. A big thanks also to Mr Tang for his coaching and support of the Fuse Cup team.

On Monday this week, we had a very exciting day with Melbourne United basketball club visiting our school. All students took part in a basketball clinic and then after lunch some of our students were lucky enough to play a game against some of the Melbourne United players! Thank you to Mrs Kittle for organising such a great day!

Senior Band are heading off on their band tour this week, playing gigs at Dromana PS and Bonio PS on Thursday and Friday. Wishing them all the best with life on the road!

Just a reminder that we have our Slime Run coming up on Friday 28th Nov which will be held on the oval at 2:15pm. Parents/carers are most welcome to come along to watch!

Thank you,

Mark Pollard – Principal

A few Reminders

  • Please ensure that your child(ren) are in full school uniform. If you have any questions about uniform or require any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

  • Arrival time: For safety reasons, students should not arrive at school before 8:45am. This is when staff begin before school yard duty. • Pick up time: School finishes at 3:15pm every day. If you require your child to be supervised later than that, please also enquire with our Oshcare program.

  • Please DO NOT park in the disabled carpark unless you are permitted to do so.

  • Please obey all street parking signs in neighboring streets to avoid being fined and do not perform U-turns outside the school gates.
