2022 February Newsletter 2

Silverton Primary School's 2022 Newsletter 2
Silverton’s Grade 6 students are currently on camp and by the look of the pictures they are having a wonderful time together.

Council Elections Nominations
We received nominations from Con Loukas, Shurooq Kittaneh, Kim Nguyen, Kylie Merton, Laura Procter, Kerrie Ngoma, Ben Eilenberg, Di Rickard and Donna Baker by the close of nominations. I declare them duly elected. Congratulations and thank you for your support.
The new Council will convene at the next scheduled meeting in March. Office Bearers will be elected at that meeting. I thank all retiring members of Council and wish them well.
Mobile Phones
I remind everyone of the continuation of the State Government’s Mobile Phone Policy that was introduced in 2020. Students are required to hand in their phones, switched off to their teacher at the start of each school day. Parents should contact their children through the Office, not via their phones during school hours. See Policy here.
Building Project
At the end of 2021, I received an email indicating Silverton was successful in receiving a Minor Capital grant. This is likely to occur later in the year.
Dear Ms Prosser
Minor Capital Works Fund 2021 Round 2 grant application outcome: (Application ID MCWF200197)
I am delighted to approve the funding of $470,899.00 for a 'Roof sheeting, gutter and downpipe replacement on 3 buildings' at Silverton Primary School through the Minor Capital Works Fund Round 2 - 2021.

SUN SMART SCHOOL

We are a SunSmart school at Silverton Primary School. As outlined in our SunSmart policy we must ensure all students are protected by the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Please make sure your child/ren has a school hat to wear outside.
Parent Payments
Thank you to all our families who have made parent payments to the school over the last few months. Your generous contributions will ensure we can continue to run the high quality teaching and learning programs, and specialist subjects we have at Silverton Primary School this year. Thank you for ongoing support.
