2025 Newsletter #4

Dear Silverton families,

As Winter is fast approaching, I just wanted to start by reminding everyone that all students do need to be in full school uniform. If you require any assistance with uniform, please don’t hesitate to ask. We have a huge amount of second hand uniform available including school jackets.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Mother’s Day breakfast on the 9th May. A big thank you to all of our lovely volunteers who helped with the Mother’s Day stall on the day and also the staff who assisted in organising the food and setting up for the breakfast.

During Week 4, we celebrated Education Week which included the Book Fair. Thank you to Christine for running book fair and to all other staff who helped across the week. We had our highest number of book fair sales which was fantastic! Another indication that our students love their reading!

Well done to the students who participated in the Chess Tournament at Hampton Park PS on 14th May and a big thanks to Miron.

Thank you to everyone who came along to Open Night on 15th May. It was fantastic to see so many of you there. A big thanks to all staff for their organisation, to our student performers and once again to all volunteers and staff who helped with the BBQ.

We had a big group of students who represented Silverton at District Cross Country on 15th May. Thank you to Mrs Kittle for her coaching and to the staff who went along on the day. A special congratulations to Harley Adams who came 1st in his race!

On the 16th May we celebrated Education Support Day. Some of our children created some special cards for all of our ES staff and we held a morning tea to show our thanks and appreciation for the amazing work that all of Silverton’s Education Support staff do.

Some of our student leaders attended the Children’s Advisory Committee in Dandenong on 21st May.  Thank you to Christine for taking the students.

Some of our Year 3/4 students participated in Junior Hooptime on 26th May. Thank you to the staff who went along to coach our basketballers and well done to our students!

This week is Reconciliation Week. Reconciliation Week is a time for Australians to learn about and celebrate shared histories, cultures, and achievements, with a focus on strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples. Our student leaders have led some activities for our students across the week in each learning space. Thank you to Miss Degering and our student leaders for their efforts this week.

We will be holding another 2026 Foundation Transition session later this Term. Details to come. If you know anyone who is looking for a school in 2026 please encourage them to contact the school office to book in a school tour.

A big thank you to all families who have made payment of their parent contributions and laptop payments via compass. If you need any help using Compass or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak with the admin team.

Once again, I would just like to thank you all for your ongoing support.

Thank you,

Mark Pollard – Principal
