2024 Newsletter #1
Dear Silverton families,
I’d like to welcome everybody back to Silverton for the commencement of our 2024 school year. I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday period. As always, it’s very exciting to welcome a new cohort of Foundation students to Silverton Primary School. I look forward to getting to know the children and their families as we settle into the year. The school year is off to a great start and I would like to congratulate the students on the way in which they have started the year!
WELCOME I’m excited to officially welcome our new staff. Welcome back to Miss Ham and Mrs Kittle. Welcome to Miss McHenry, Miss Tobin, Miss Duong and Miss Xiong, who are starting their teaching careers which is very exciting. Welcome also to Miss Dalziel, teaching Grade 1/2, Katerina, the newest member of our Education Support team and Liam who will be working as an IT tech this year. If you see any of our new staff around, please make them feel welcome.
BBQ We will be having a whole school Information & BBQ Night on Thursday 15th Feb from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. The BBQ is free and each person may have one sausage and a drink. Each Learning Centre will have a 30 minute time slot for staff to present important information to students and parents. We ask that all students and their parents/carers please go into the relevant LC at this time. Please note that the evening is intended for Parents/Carers and Silverton students only. We will have our usual Open Night in Term Two where extended family and friends are welcome to attend. Please RSVP here.
CANTEEN We are very lucky to have a new school canteen run by Bocca Foods. All lunches need to be ordered online. Please refer to the information that has been sent home with instructions on how to register your account. Children can still order snacks from the counter using cash at both recess and lunchtime.
PLEASE NOTE Please ensure you send your children to school with lunches that DO NOT require a microwave to heat them or have boiling water added as this is a safety hazard.
Once again, I would just like to welcome everyone back to Silverton and thank you for your ongoing support. We are looking forward to a great year!
Thank you,
Mark Pollard Principal

Whole School BBQ
On Thursday 15th February from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, we will be holding a whole school Meet & Greet Information & BBQ Night. This is an important event as it provides families the chance to come together as a school community, meet your child/ren’s teachers and attend the information sessions relevant to your child/ren.
The BBQ is free and each person may have one sausage and a drink. Each Learning Centre will hold a 30 minute information session. This will be a chance for staff to present important information to students and parents about expectations and events relevant to their year level. There will also be an opportunity for students to introduce their parents to their teachers. This event will be held in lieu of the traditional meet and greet interviews. If you feel you need a more substantial conversation with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment at an alternate time.
We ask that all students and their parents/carers please go into the relevant LC at the scheduled time.
LC2: 5:00-5:30
LC1: 5:30-6:00
LC3: 6:00-6:30
LC4: 6:30-7:00
Please note that the evening is intended for Parents/Carers and Silverton students only. We will have our usual Open Night in Term Two where extended family and friends are welcome to attend.
