Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to Term Four. It’s been lovely to see everyone back at Silverton and what an exciting start to the Term we have had!

Term Three ended with our annual Footy Day. Thank you to all staff and students who helped with the running of the day. It was an emotional day for us all as we paid tribute to Ms Prosser and remembered what we loved about her. Thank you to everyone who came along on the day to make it a very special day. I was very proud of the way our students conducted themselves on the day, particularly during our minutes silence. It seems fitting that this Term, we are focusing on the value of respect.

You may have noticed the plaque that is now on the wall in the gym foyer which pays tribute to Ms Prosser. If you have not yet had a chance to go for a look, I would encourage you to do so. It’s a lovely reminder of the impact that Ms Prosser had on our school community over such a long period of time.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our school concert. What an amazing event it was! So much effort goes into making our concert a success and I really appreciate the input from so many. I was very proud of the way that all of our students supported each other and gave their best effort in rehearsals and on concert night.

We have had quite a few things done over the school holidays around the school. The most exciting of which is our beautiful indigenous painting on the wall next to the basketball courts. I want to thank Kellie, the artist for such an amazing piece of art that our school community can now enjoy. Kellie will be coming in to visit the students next week to talk to them about the story behind her painting and what it all means. Click here for her story.

We have three new flag poles in the courtyard with our new flags given to us by Julian Hill on his recent visit. The boys toilet floors have been refurbished. Glenn has also been very busy doing some painting around the school. It’s exciting to see all of the changes taking place and things will continue to happen into next year.

Next week we are conducting Numeracy Learning Conversations. Please book in a time to talk to your child’s Maths Workshop Teacher. Bookings can be made in the Sentral Parent Portal, under the Interviews menu.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who had Math’s Workshops lessons with Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Gahan (in Term 3), will not have interviews as these teachers are on leave. You will receive an email with your child's progress.

A reminder to all of our families that we are currently organising our 2024 Foundation classes and staffing. If you have a child who is due to start school in 2024, can you please return your completed enrolment form to admin asap. If you require any assistance, please don’t hesitate to pop into admin and ask.

Just a reminder that hats need to be worn during Term Four.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support.

Mark Pollard

Principal
