Dear Parents/Carers,

I’d like to start by congratulating all of our students in Foundation to Year Two for their efforts in the swimming program. It was great to see so many of our students involved! Thank you also to all staff involved in the planning and running of the program.

Congratulations to the students who competed in the chess tournament at Hampton Park. Our school were the overall winners of the competition, a super effort!

Last week we had a fantastic house day to help celebrate book week. The children and staff had a great day dressing up as characters from their favourite story book. Thank you to all staff who helped organise the day and to our student leaders who ran the activities. You did a great job!

It was lovely to see so many of our 2024 Foundation students attend the STEM evening last Wednesday, engaging in STEM activities in Learning Centre Two. Thank you again to the staff who organised the event.

A reminder to all of our families that we are currently organising our 2024 Foundation classes and staffing. If you have a child who is due to start school in 2024, can you please return your completed enrolment form to admin. If you require any assistance, please don’t hesitate to pop into admin and ask.

Congratulations to all of the students who competed in district athletics on Monday. Silverton came 4th overall which is a great effort!

On Friday 15th September, we will be having our Footy Day as we always do on the last day of Term Three. As many of you will already know, this day will also mark the one year anniversary of Ms Prosser’s passing. I would like to ensure that we use the day to reflect and pay tribute to her appropriately. We are planning to do our traditional footy parade at 1:30pm on the basketball courts. I am inviting any parents/carers to come along and watch the parade as I will also be saying a few words to the students at this point to acknowledge Ms Prosser. As her favourite colour was red, I’m encouraging anyone that would like to join us in wearing a red arm band on the day. It will be an emotional day for our school community, but I am confident that we will look after each other like we always do.

I would like to remind families that whilst we are not a ‘nut free school’, we do remind all children that we do not share food at school. If you are planning to bring in any food to celebrate your child’s birthday, please ensure that this food does not contain nuts and that it is individually wrapped. Thank you in advance for doing this.

We are looking forward to running our Father’s Day function this Friday from 4:30pm – 6:00pm in the courtyard. I hope to see lots of our students and family members there. Don’t forget we also have our Father’s Day stall running throughout the day this Friday, for students to visit during class time.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support.

Mark Pollard

Principal

Just a few reminders:

Please ensure that your children are wearing full school uniform every day at school. If you require any assistance with uniform, please contact the school.

Please ensure you children are arriving at school before 9:00am each day.

I would appreciate you talking to your child(ren) about our new school values and why it is so important to demonstrate our values every day at school.

RESILIENCE – RESPECT – EMPATHY – GRATITUDE – CURIOUSITY

Parents, please do not park in the front car park unless you are someone who uses the disabled park.

Assembly will now be held in the gym every Monday at 8:50am.

We suggest that no student of Silverton Primary School should be using TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat.  These apps are not considered safe for children.

Please help us reduce the amount of rubbish in the yard by providing your children with rubbish free lunches. We are also encouraging all students to bring rubbish free lunches to school. Please help us reduce the amount of plastic waste at school by providing lunches and snacks that do not have plastic wrapping or packaging. Sandwiches can be in plastic Tupperware containers as well as fruit or vegetables in small containers.
