2022 Start of Term 4 Newsletter #12

Header

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you will all be aware by now, it has been a difficult time for the Silverton Community with the sudden passing of our amazing Principal, Ms Amanda Prosser. I wanted to use our first newsletter of Term Four to acknowledge Amanda’s incredible contribution not only to Silverton Primary School, but the whole of education in Victoria.

Amanda was an amazing human being, first and foremost. She was a good friend to many who are currently or have formerly been a part of Silverton Primary School. As a Principal, nothing was ever too much for Amanda (or Miss Prosser to our beautiful students). She was what I call, a highly visible leader in our school. She was across every facet of the school and wow, what a memory! An open door policy to all and an approachable figure for our parent community. She knew our students well and would always take time to listen, to engage and to support them. As a colleague, she was incredibly supportive. She had an open mind and would do whatever she could to be flexible and supportive to our staff. She will be remembered for many things at Silverton. Her smile, her laugh, her bubbly personality, her caring nature and her passion for education and more specifically, the Silverton community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in what has been a very challenging time for Silverton. I am not surprised but rather, extremely proud of the way our community has supported each other and will continue to do so. In the same way that Amanda has always said, my door is always open so please feel free to reach out if there is anything I can do for you.

Thank you,

Mark Pollard
