e-Newsletter November 2021

Term 2

Silverton Primary School's November e-Newsletter

It is so great to have all our students back at school!

However, our new ‘covid-normal’ comes with a new set of expectations for all of us such as:

  • Wearing face masks:
    • Mandatory for all adults and Year 3 to 6 children indoors
    • Highly recommended for all Year Prep to 2 children indoors
  • Social distancing
  • Sanitising regularly
  • Not attending school if a child feels unwell
  • Completing a COVID test if we are unwell

I am hopeful that our school will not be impacted again however the reality is that this is something that we cannot predict although there is so much, we can do to minimise the risk as outlined above.

Thank you everyone in our school community in supporting our school as we embark on this next stage and please ensure you follow the advice provided.

School Payments and Course Confirmation

As the Department of Education only provides the school with a limited amount of student-based funding for a basic standard of curriculum delivery, we rely on parent payments and voluntary contributions to develop and maintain the high-quality education programs, resources, facilities, and grounds the school provides.

Therefore for 2022, we ask and encourage you to continue to make a generous contribution to our outstanding school as you have in previous years. Without your support and the subsequent lack of funds, we may have to reduce funding and cut several of our programs and resources.

We have greatly appreciated your contributions in the past and hope you continue to do so through your financial support for the 2022 school year.  We look forward to a successful school year of teaching and learning in 2022 and thank you for your ongoing support.

To see details of the Parent Payment for 2022 click Here.  A paper copy will also be sent home this week with your eldest child.

2022 Prep Transition

It was wonderful to welcome our 2022 Foundation students to school last Wednesday for their second transition session. See you all again next Wednesday.

Electronic Devices

As we are nearing the end of the year please make sure any devices (laptops, dongles, etc) that you borrowed or hire from school are returned as soon as possible.

School Exits and Enrolments

With the exception of Year 6 students, please contact our school office (via email) if your child/ren are leaving our school for any reason at or prior to the end of Term 4. We are working out numbers of classes for 2022 and need to know our student numbers for next year.

This week the school community was saddened by the passing of our friend and School Crossing Supervisor Mr Brian Wellman. We join together as a community to express our deepest sympathy to Bev, Craig, Steph, Ben, Finn and their extended family on the passing of their much loved Brian.

Brian was a respected and valued member of Silverton Primary School. His exemplified dedication to student safety and well being was appreciated by all.

He cared deeply for the school and was always putting in the extra to ensure that Silverton was an inspiring place to learn and grow.

Together current and past school community members mourn the passing of our friend and colleague. We know that our students will miss him deeply and will always hold a fond place in their hearts for our School Crossing Supervisor, Brian Wellman.
