Silverton Primary School's September e-Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers
As we come to the end of Term 3, staff have continued to be impressed with the attendance and engagement of our students during remote learning. Staff work incredibly hard to maintain the best possible learning environment for all our students online and ensuring that our students maintain a positivity towards their learning.
Our teachers are also very thankful for the ongoing support they receive from all parents and carers. It makes such a difference when there is a close and positive partnership between home and school.
We are still unsure what Term 4 will look like; however, we have had conversations with our leaders around building contingencies for all students depending on the situations we are presented with. The Department of Education (DET) will provide us with guidelines that we must follow once the Premier has announced the roadmap out of lockdown. We will inform the community of any new arrangements in the coming weeks.
Staffing
We farewell Bianca Degering (Miss D) who is awaiting the birth of her first child, a baby girl. In her place will be Alex Keng who is currently working at our school.
Jessica Ferreira is returning to Silverton in 12N on Wednesdays to Fridays as a replacement for Sue Birkbeck (Mrs B) who is taking leave.
We also welcome back Mrs Stephanie Chan as Silverton’s LOTE teacher.
Enjoy the holidays and take care of each other.
Fingers crossed we have everyone back onsite to start Term 4!

Grade 5/6 Community Impact Projects
Frog ID Community Impact Project
This Semester the grade 5/6s are completing a Community Impact Project. The focus of our Community Impact Project is helping Frogs in our environment and teaching younger children about them. We have discovered that many frogs are dying or have died around Australia. Unfortunately, we do not know why this is happening. We need your help to discover more about frogs including where they are, why they are there, and what possibilities are there that are killing our Frogs.
The Frog ID Program is a group of scientists together with the Australian Museum who are researching and doing everything they can to help understand frogs. Since this program started, we have more information on frogs, their habitats, why they are there, and what we can do to help them survive. But we need more information to help these frogs. We need your help, please download the Frog ID app on your phone and record frogs sounds and send your recording in to the Frog ID team. The Frog ID team will then verify the identity of your frog call and use this data to help learn more about frogs in our local environment.
