Term 2

Silverton Primary School's
July/August e-Newsletter

It is wonderful to be back onsite from the fifth lockdown. I can’t say enough, just how proud I am of the resilience our children have shown. From their first day back last Wednesday, they have happily bounded into school ready to learn and engage with their teachers and classmates. The teachers and ES staff have gone above and beyond, to plan for and support the students with online / onsite learning and now back in the classrooms.

A big thanks to all the families who have supported your children through lockdown. Whilst we know that supervising online learning is a challenge, (especially if you are working from home), your children will benefit from this investment you have made in their education. I have noticed, since remote learning, that parents now have a much greater understanding of what their children can do and are learning to do. This increased knowledge and understanding of your child as a learner will assist them throughout all their schooling.

Flashback, our school concert will be held on Tuesday 31 August and Wednesday 1 September at Crossway, 2 Vision Drive, Burwood East.  At this stage tickets won’t go on sale as audience restrictions keep changing, but the show will still go on!!

Ms Menghi Yu has gained a teaching position at Montrose Primary School, thank you for all your hard work over the past two terms.  We welcome Mrs Natasha Simone to Silverton as our Visual Arts teacher for Term 3.

Until further notice we will continue to abide by the Department of Education's Guidelines to stagger drop off and pick up times.

Silverton are using the first letter of family surnames to determine timing for

Arrival times (Drop Off)

  • 8.45 am A to M
  • 8.50 am N to Z

All parents / carers say goodbye to your child at the school gate / fence or at your car. Students head straight to their learning centres.

Leaving times (Pick Up Times)

  • First Bell 3.15 pm A to H (get out of car at 3.15)
  • Second Bell 3.25 pm I to P (get out of car at 3.25)
  • Third Bell 3. 30 pm Q to Z (get out of car at 3.30)

Students will meet their parents on the footpaths outside the school gates, at their parked car or on the oval.

  • Organise in advance where your child will meet you after school.
  • Older siblings to collect younger siblings from the green area then walk out.
  • Oshcare students will walk straight to the Activities Room.
  • If your child normally walks to and from school they can still do so.

Please make sure your child has a raincoat or a warm jacket.

All parents/carers MUST observe physical distancing measures at all times, don't congregate before and after school at the school gates and please remember to wear a face mask at ALL times.

If you need to discuss any issues with your child’s teacher, please call the school to speak to them or email the teacher to keep the lines of communication open.

Once again thank you to everyone for keeping our school community safe.

Amanda

PJ Day

On Friday the 30th of July the SSC had planned a pyjama day which was very successful. We raised around 300-400 dollars which will be going towards school resources. Seeing majority of the students and teachers participating was very joyful as we had planned something that was very simple but enjoyable for all. We'd like to thank everyone for having an input and participating we cannot thank you enough.

Sincerely from Kaya Miskulin and the SSC
