Silverton Primary School's End of Term 1 2021 e-Newsletter
Dear Parents,
It is only a short time now until the end of Term One. I am sure the children are looking forward to a break after a very busy term's work at school. There have been quite a number of interesting things happening in our school this term including Grade 6 Camp, 1 / 2 beach excursion, I Sea I Care - Marine Ambassador, House day as well as some wonderful work in the Learning Centres by the children.
What does the Respectful Relationships program look like at Silverton?
The Department’s Respectful Relationships program aims to help young Victorians deal with various challenges they may face and covers topics including being respectful, resilient and engaged at school and confident in themselves.
Respectful Relationships promotes equality and helps all students learn how to build healthy relationships. The initiative prepares them to face challenges by developing problem-solving skills and building empathy, resilience and confidence.
The following topics are covered throughout the program:
Foundation to Grade 6
Emotional Literacy
Personal Strengths
Positive Coping Problem Solving
Help Seeking
Stress Management
Gender and Identity
Positive gender relations

School Starting Time and Hours
Just a reminder that school starts at 8:50am on Mondays, 9.00 Tuesday - Friday. We ask that students are in their Learning Centres by this time to organise themselves for the upcoming day and then to be ready and seated for the first lesson at 8.50/9am. I have noticed over the last few weeks many students are arriving late. This can impact their learning time, as well as that of others in the class if they arrive after other students have started their learning. Thank you to those families who are already arriving at this time.
School Review
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff, students and parents for their input into our School Review. Next week the school review panel will meet on Wednesday to finalise Silverton’s targets and goals for the next four years.
Foundation Enrolments 2022
We are now accepting enrolments for Foundation's in 2022. If you are an existing family at the school who is intending to enrol a foundation student next year, please submit your enrolment form to the office ASAP. Enrolment forms can be found at the office or via the school website. School tours can also be booked via the website also.
Student Leadership
On Thursday 1 April the School Captains are running a free dress and hat parade for all the students to celebrate the end of Term 1.
End of Term
Term 1 ends on THURSDAY 1st APRIL at 2:30pm. Please note the earlier finish time and day as the next day is the Good Friday Public holiday. Term 2 start on Monday 19th April at 8:50am.
We are looking for helpers in different areas of the school. If you are able to help us out, regularly or every now and then, please fill out the Helping Hands form by Friday 26th March.
Take care
Amanda
