December 2020 Newsletter
Silverton Primary School's FINAL 2020 e-Newsletter
Dear Parents,
As another successful year at Silverton Primary School draws to a close I would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution made by students, parents and staff across the school in many varied ways.
I think this year, we have all tired. In these words each of us should take great comfort, in our attempts to make sense of a year that has depleted us all and demonstrated both the power of community and the struggles of sacrifice. We tried and we succeeded in protecting and keeping safe our community, we tried, and we succeeded in ensuring our Gr 6s were able to complete their year, we tried, and we succeeded in bringing every child back to school to finish the year that they started, and we tried, and we succeeded in ensuring every child continued to learn.
It is only with this effort and sense of community that Silverton continues to be the outstanding learning community it is.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our School Council members for their commitment to our school. The time and effort dedicated to this role often goes unrecognised and whilst rewarding, can also be challenging especially during online meetings. At Silverton, we are fortunate to have an outstanding group of people led superbly by our School Council President, Kerrie Ngoma.
To our Parents Association, thank you for volunteering to be on this committee and organising the Term 4 fundraising events for our school community. Thank you to Esta and Phi for all their hard work over the years with School Banking.
Our 2020 Year 6 students are now in their final week of primary school. It is an exciting time for any young person to move from the sanctuary of their primary school and take the challenge of entering secondary school. We would like to wish them all a very fond farewell from Silverton PS. We know our school has provided these students with the skills and confidence to take on any challenge they face in the coming years. I would also like to farewell all of the families that are departing Silverton for a variety of reasons. We hope that wherever you go you will remain motivated, persistent and ultimately successful.
I would like to farewell and thank Cassandra Kovac, Jessica Stewart, Seraya Moroney, Matthew Brown, Michelle Wright and Shae for their contributions to Silverton over the past year/s. We wish you well in your new schools and know you leave our school with many fond memories.
School Reports will be available on the Sentral Parent Portal on Wednesday 16 December. If any parent would like to discuss their child’s report please contact the classroom teacher.
Lastly, I would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday.
See you all in 2021.
Take care
Amanda

SSC
Friday 27th November, the SSC held a free dress day to raise money for the WWF-Australia’s Wildlife and Nature Recovery fund. Almost the entire school brought a donation in both notes, coins and even a Koala stuffed animal! In total, we raised $401.90. The money we raised is going to support research for our bushfire animal relief and regeneration of Koala habitats. The SSC team is so grateful and we would like to thank the Silverton community for supporting and helping on this day.
