September 2020 Newsletter
Silverton Primary School's September 2020 e-Newsletter
Dear Parents,
Congratulations to everyone on surviving Term 3. There has been so much to celebrate and acknowledge during this difficult time of Stage 3 and Stage 4 Lockdown. The amazing focus of students on their remote learning tasks and the commitment and support of parents to their child’s learning. Many thanks also to our talented and conscientious staff for their adaptability and for facilitating amazing teaching and learning opportunities for students this term.
Following the government’s announcement regarding the roadmap to a COVID normal it’s important to note:
- Term 4 will begin with remote learning for all students from Monday 5 to the 9 October
- Foundation to Grade 2 students will commence onsite learning on Monday 12 October
- Grade 3 to 6 students to continue with remote learning until further notice
To the parents of Grade 3 to 6 students, I understand and share your disappointment. At this stage, your children will not return to onsite learning until after Monday 26 October, depending on the advice provided at that time. I share your frustration by the delay in students coming back to the school and want nothing more than to see our school vibrant again.
On-site supervision will continue to be available in Term 4 for students in the following categories, where the student’s year level has not yet returned to on-site learning:
- Children whose parents and carers are permitted workers who cannot work from home and where no other arrangements can be made.
- Where there are two parents/ carers, both must be permitted workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
- For single parents/ carers, the permitted worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
- Vulnerable children, including:
- children in out-of-home care
- children deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and is assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home;
- children identified by a school as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service);
- children with a disability and the family is experiencing severe stress.
If your circumstances change over the holidays and your child requires onsite supervision in Term 4, please email admin@silverton-ps.vic.edu.au to let us know.
OSHCare
Vacation care will operate during the school holidays for students who were eligible for on-site supervision at school. If your working circumstances change over the holidays and you require OSHCare please contact them directly to discuss. oshcare@silverton-ps.vic.edu.au or 9795 5033 ext 2.
During the staged return, outside school hours care will be available to students attending for on-site supervision and progressively for the relevant year levels returning to on-site learning.
PLANNING FOR 2021
If you know of anyone who has not yet enrolled their Foundation child for 2021 please let them know they can contact the school office or fill out an online enrolment form. Foundation transition will start early in Term 4 with many online sessions for Silverton’s 2021 parents and children. Similarly at the other end, if you are not returning to Silverton in 2021 for any reason, please advise the school.
Thank you to Luna and Phoenix for sharing their beautiful blossom tress with me last week.
All the best to Mrs Sam Golotta and Mrs Abby Gebert who are taking leave for the impeding arrival of their babies. Good Luck. We welcome back Mrs Kelly Kittle and Mrs Esther Wallis.
Don’t forget to wear your footy colours this Friday. Onsite students will be dismissed at 2.30pm this Friday, 18 September.
Enjoy the holidays and take care of each other.
Amanda

Contactless Payments and Receipts
Due to the current climate the school is moving towards contactless payments and receipts.
Payments
We are encouraging all parents to pay either by direct deposit or via their credit card over the phone. We are still accepting cash but due to parents not being able to attend onsite at the moment these are our preferred methods of payment.
