June 2020 Newsletter
Welcome to Silverton Primary School's June e-Newsletter.
Dear Parents
Welcome back everyone. We are so pleased to have all our students back onsite. It has been eight weeks of remote learning from home for our Grade 3 to 6 students. The success of the program would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support provided by you at home.
The Victorian Chief Health Officer and Victorian Government have approached the return of face to face learning and work in Victorian schools with precaution and careful planning. If you have any concerns about your child transition back to school, please contact your child’s teacher by email or telephone. We are all here to support you through these times of significant change.
School Reports
The Department of Education and Training has adjusted the expectations of Student Reports for Semester 1 in recognition of the transition to remote and flexible learning during Term 2.
While our school has continued to deliver its teaching and learning program and monitor the achievement and progress of each student, there have been some unprecedented changes to our usual program.
We know it is vital to involve students and their parents/carers in learning. This process includes providing reports on student learning.
Silverton will provide a written report for the parent/carer of each student enrolled at the school for Semester 1. The reports will include information on student achievement for each curriculum area taught, however, there are some changes from our usual Semester 1 reports.
Student reports for Semester 1 2020 will include:
- a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 taught
- comments regarding student learning achievement, based on the Victorian Curriculum F-10 for the subject areas taught
- a comment on how the student has adjusted to the remote and flexible learning environment.
Silverton will not be including teacher judgements and a five-point scale due to the unprecedented changes to our program due to COVID-19. We will report on progress at the end of the year.

Contactless Payments and Receipts
Due to the current climate the school is moving towards contactless payments and receipts.
Payments
We are encouraging all parents to pay either by direct deposit or via their credit card over the phone. We are still accepting cash but due to parents not being able to attend onsite at the moment these are our preferred methods of payment.
