May 2020 Newsletter

Welcome to Silverton Primary School's May e-Newsletter.

Dear Parents

I would like to express my deep gratitude for all Silverton’s staff for their work this term.  They have all risen to the challenge and have done an outstanding job teaching online.  I am so proud of them all.

I have had the opportunity to visit many lessons via Microsoft Teams and WebEx and know that all the students are doing a fantastic job.  I have loved seeing the smiling faces as students continue to connect with their peers and teachers.  Like everyone, I hope that this does not continue for too much longer, but keeping everyone safe at this time has remained the priority and I commend all in our community for their wonderful work at this time.

During this extended isolation it’s natural to feel confused and worried as to what is going to happen.  It is important as parents, we make our children feel safe as possible and continue to provide them with a regular routine and a sense of life being “normal”.  We want you all to be aware that at Silverton Primary School, we have a wellbeing team that is able to support you and your child during this time.  If your child is feeling distressed, anxious or overwhelmed and you would like help with supporting them during this stressful time our friendly well-being staff are happy to help.  We have Mrs Howard, (Monday to Wednesdays) and Mr Pollard (Monday to Fridays) available and they can be contacted through the school phone number, 9795 5033 Ext 1 or email silverton.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au

It’s very important to note that Friday 29 May is still a curriculum day, no students are to attend school online or onsite.  Oshcare is providing a curriculum day program like usual so please make sure you book your child in by contacting 0429 784 199.

2021 Prep Enrolments

We will have further information regarding re-scheduling our school tours and Open Night once social distancing requirements are eased but we are currently taking enrolments for next year.

or phoning the school 9795 5033 Ext 1.

Stay safe everyone
