LC4 Carwatha Soccer Competition

A selected group of 9 girls and 9 boys from Learning Centre 4, were invited to participate in Cawartha College’s Soccer Tournament.

On Friday May 27th 2022, a selected group of 9 girls and 9 boys from Learning Centre 4, were invited to participate in Cawartha College’s Soccer Tournament. This day included a Round Robin, where we had the opportunity to play against other schools in the school district. There were around 6-8 schools who we competed against.

Each game meant that we had to play our best; that way we make it into the next round. Both teams made it into the semi-finals; but unfortunately lost. All students played exceptionally well and performed well.

Later in the day, we participated in a Soccer Clinic. This was led by a group of A-League Melbourne City professional soccer players. They organised activities for us to play, and to work on our soccer skills and technique. These games were fun, where we were trying to kick the ball and aim to flip the cones over. We also played Number Soccer, where all students were given a number. During the game, whenever their number is called out, they are to run on the field and try to score a goal for their team.

At the end of the day, the City players gathered us and answered all questions we had for them. We were lucky enough to receive Melbourne City Merchandise from the club.

On a plus note, we were happy that we at least won one round robin and had fun at the same time. Next time, we should consider to practise more and communicate a lot more to each other as a team.

Thank you to Cawartha College for inviting Silverton Primary School to the Tournament, and for organising the day. It was a fun day, filled with lots of excitement; that we thoroughly enjoyed as students.

To Mr Keng, thank you for selecting us, the students to participate and for all the behind-the-scenes work. Thank you, Tahlia, for coming along and coaching the Girls’ Team.

Well done all Silverton Students who participated. Your fantastic attitude and sportsmanship throughout day, was incredible. You should be proud of yourselves, as you did an amazing job in making the rest proud.
