Walk Safely to School Day

On the 19th of March the Silverton Student Committee (SSC) and Breakfast Club worked together to run a special day in support of Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day is a national event run annually, aimed to promote safe commuting habits, road safety, health and environmental awareness.  Students from across the school were invited to participate in this event.

It was fantastic to see so many families taking part in this event by either parking their car further away from the school and walking or by walking straight from their home to school. All students who walked to school were greeted at the gate by our SSC representatives who gave out stickers to everyone who chose to participate in this day.

All students were encouraged to make their way to Learning Centre Four to collect house points for walking to school and to join in the special breakfast run by Breakfast Club! Students were given options of assorted fruits, yoghurt, muesli and oats which they all enjoyed. A big thank you to our parent volunteers, Jenelyn Ferguson and Evelyn Kazi for helping us out in the morning, and all staff who helped out!

It was wonderful to see our Silverton community showing so much support for our SSC, Breakfast Club and our Valuable Learning Habit of Well Balanced. It was a morning that helped encourage our students to learn more about healthy living that could last a life time. Well done Silverton!
